Mari Ángeles Aguilar

We interviewed María Ángeles Aguilar, Chief People Officer specialising in agility and employee experience.

María Ángeles, welcome to the niikiis blog:

What does the concept of happiness mean?

Happiness for each person can be a different concept. It can mean a state of mind, a period of time, an alignment of concerns or an emotion when a goal is achieved. It is a complicated term to define.

In your experience, what does it take to be a happy company from your position? What must be done to be a happy company from the position of People in the company? People?

The first thing to do is to get to know the CEO, to know what makes him or her tick, what his or her purpose is and why he or she decided to start the company. After this analysis we would have to define the purpose of the company and thus align the team. The basis is to know the why, the raison d'être, starting with oneself.

¿Whichpillars should a company consider in order to offer happiness at work?

We live in an era where employee care is essential at all levels. The basis for happiness at work is to consider the people who make up and achieve the company's results as people capable of going far by offering them trust, transparency and autonomy to do their job well.

Staff happiness is a key element in improving productivity and performance. Such a state of mind stimulates greater commitment at work.

How can wehow can we measure happiness?

Standardising the measurement of happiness is a complicated task. Within the people department of a company, different actions can be taken, such as holding monthly meetings with the people in charge. In this way a bond of trust is created and goals are set. We can also ask if you are happy in the company on a routine basis to establish a barometer.

At BigBuy we are clear that in order to achieve our purpose, to be the happiest company in the world, we must work on taking care of our team. To achieve this, we have multiple benefits for the people in our organisation. I would highlight the quality of life we offer thanks to the company's flexible working hours.

Thank you very much, María Ángeles!
